Vodka is clear distilled alcoholic beverage. Orignated in Poland , Russia and sweden .
Vodka is traditionally made by distilling the liquid from cereal grains that have been fermented.
There can be flavoured vodka as well. Traditionally drunk neat.

Production of vodka 

Vodka may be distilled from any starch or sugar rich plant . Such as sorghum, corn , rye or wheat .
Among all grain vodkas rye and wheat vodka are superior.

Process 

1. Mash preparation

Grain and vegetables are loaded into an automatic mash tub , then all the ingredients are mashed .

2.sterilization

First the mash is sterilized by heating it to the boiling point then it is injected with lactic acid bacteria to raise acidity level needed for fermentation .

3.Fermentation

Mash is poured into large stainless steel vats . Yeast is added and mash is being put for fermentation for two to four days , enzymes in the yeast convert the sugar in the mash to Ethyl alcohol .

4. Distillation

After fermentation liquid is pumped to satianless steel columns. The alcohol is continuously cycled up and down and heated with steam , untill the vapour are released and condensed . This process also removes impurities .
In order to make vodka drinkable , water is added to sprits to decrease the alcohol percentage to 40, and the proof to 80.

5 Botteling

It is the last process in which vodka is bottled . Botteling varies on company to company.
